Kudalur: The confiscation of banned plastic items has been intensified at Mudumalai check posts. Tourists and motorists passing through the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in Nilgiri district are throwing plastic waste on the roadsides, causing harm to the environment and wild animals. To prevent this, Mudumalai Thorapalli, At Kakanalla forest check booths on the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border, forest staff are checking vehicles and confiscating banned plastic items and plastic bottles. As a result, plastic waste has reduced significantly in Mudumalai forest. Environmentalists say that if this work, which is nominally carried out in the district boundaries, is intensified, the forest environment can be protected everywhere.
