Under the initiative of Muhammad Yunus, a foundation is being set up to support the families of those killed in the anti-discrimination student movement and provide healthcare to the injured. Those who have already borne the medical expenses, will be given a grant from the foundation.

This information was informed in the press release sent by Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, Senior Information Officer of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday (August 21).

According to the notification, Health Advisor Noorjahan Begum has already visited National Orthopedic Hospital and Rehabilitation Institute (NETOR), Dhaka Medical College Hospital, National Institute of Ophthalmology and hospitals to ensure proper treatment of students under treatment. He spoke in detail with the injured students undergoing treatment at the hospital and with the hospital directors and doctors.

During the visit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the health advisor directed the hospital authorities to stop keeping ambulances in front of the hospital, remove illegal shops, stop people from roaming around unnecessarily, prevent infection and ensure proper treatment.

He said that the Ministry of Health is working continuously to provide full health care and ensure better treatment to those injured in the anti-discrimination student movement. 24 hours health care number (16263) and health emergency (01759114488 and 01769954192) hotline numbers have been opened for any urgent needs or complaints related to health care.

Many of those injured in the anti-discrimination movement need better eye care. Many are partially or completely blind. Many people are at risk of paralysis. In this situation, many domestic institutions, especially drug manufacturing institutions, expressed their desire to provide free medicine to the students under treatment and take responsibility for better treatment abroad for a student who was injured in Khulna in an exchange meeting at the Ministry of Health on August 20. The issue of bringing expert foreign doctors with the help of Seva Foundation in the international arena to treat the injured in the movement is under process. It is hoped that a positive response will be received soon.

Health advisor Noorjahan Begum said, we want our actions to be good deeds. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all of us to make that path smooth, which has made our path friendless over the years. Irrespective of party affiliation, all of our comments, opinions and constructive criticism can guide this country in the right direction.
