After a third weekend of total closure, the Quebec Bridge is accessible again in both directions as of 5:30 a.m. Monday. However, there may be other disruptions to the work this week and into September.
For this third weekend of closure, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD) left itself a little space on Monday morning.
It was certain that traffic would resume northbound, i.e. in the direction of morning traffic, from 5:30 a.m., but in the southbound direction, reopening was planned “at 2 p.m. maximum”.
Finally, at 5:30 a.m. the two barriers were lifted, confirmed by the general management of Chaudière-Appalaches.
However, this is not the end of the disruptions for users, as according to the Quebec 511 platform, a complete closure of the bridge is still possible at night this week.
In addition, last Friday, the MTMD specified in a press release that “other weekend and weekday night closures of the Quebec Bridge are expected during the months of August and September 2024”.
For several weeks, the Ministry has not hidden the fact that other similar shutdowns may be “required” during the month of September “to continue work”.
However, no new closures have been confirmed by MTMD at this time.
Remember that road traffic on the Quebec Bridge was disrupted several times in August, most notably for three consecutive weekends.
MTMD is currently working on the roadway of Route 175 as part of the project to reconstruct the interchanges north of the Pierre-Laporte and Quebec bridges.
