Abu Dhabi: The UAE government has announced further relaxations in the country’s existing laws regarding visa transfers. Private sector workers will now be able to change jobs in the UAE during job training. The new federal labor law proposes more concessions on visa changes.

The new law provides for 17 benefits with emphasis on occupational comfort and humanity. Job training period is six months from the date of entry into employment. If the owner of the establishment is not satisfied with this, he can be dismissed by giving 14 days’ notice.

However, the new law allows workers to change their visas during probation. The employer must be notified in writing one month prior to termination of employment. However, a probationary period cannot be fixed more than one term under one institution. In addition, the new labor law will help workers find new jobs. Institutions must keep a worker’s file for at least two years, even if the employment contract is terminated. Official documents related to the worker should not be withheld without giving it to the worker.

The employer must provide all coverage in the event of illness or injury during service. Training should be provided to enable them to work without injury. Workers must be housed in a permitted building.
