Works to acquire Wistron iPhone manufacturing plant

It has been reported that the Tata Group has reached the final stages of taking over Wistron’s iPhone manufacturing plant in India. Between the two companies, Rs. With the deal worth Rs 5,000 crore signed, the acquisition is said to be completed by the end of this month.

iPhone 14 and iPhone 12 models are being manufactured at Wistron’s manufacturing facility in Karnataka. For this the plant has eight assembly lines that assemble the parts. After acquiring the plant, the Tata Group plans to manufacture the iPhone 15 and subsequent iPhones.

This could make India a major part of Apple device manufacturing. Already companies like Wistron, Pegatron and Foxconn are manufacturing Apple devices in India. While Wistron is about to leave India, companies including Foxconn and Pegatron have ramped up their production.

The Tata Group has expressed interest in manufacturing Apple devices after the central government is promoting plans to make India a manufacturing hub and Apple plans to shift most of its production from China to other countries. The Tata group is reportedly planning to take over Pegatron’s manufacturing plants after taking over Wistron.
