The World Bank (WB) has approved two credits for Argentina for a total of 450 million dollars that the country will apply to projects in the area of ​​education and urban development.

“It is a great satisfaction to have the support of the World Bank to contribute to the financing of educational inclusion, as well as to launch a habitat and urban land program to improve living conditions and access to infrastructure and services for more Argentines. and Argentina”, highlighted the country’s Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa.

As reported by the Argentine Government, the WB board approved a loan for Argentina for 300 million dollars that will be used to finance a program that seeks to reduce dropout rates both in secondary and higher education.

The “improvement of inclusion in secondary and higher education by results” project supports the national student scholarship program Progresar, which currently reaches 1.4 million vulnerable young people in order to accompany and encourage them to finish their studies.

The other disbursement approved, for 150 million dollars, will be used for a plan to “support planned urban growth that allows more inclusive access to housing,” according to official sources.

The so-called “habitat and urban land project” will be implemented in 40 municipalities in Argentina to improve living conditions in 17,000 homes through urban growth planning and the provision of better infrastructure and services in precarious and informal settlements and in degraded areas. .
