Washington – Indian-born Ajay Banga, who was nominated for the presidency of the World Bank, is infected with Covid-19. Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman were met by External Affairs Minister S. Banga was diagnosed with Covid-19 while meeting Jaishankar. He was confirmed infected with the disease during a covid test in Delhi. The US Treasury Department said Banga is currently in quarantine.
Banga was nominated by US President Joe Biden as the President of the World Bank. India accepted Banga’s candidature. After this, for three weeks, Banga visited countries in Africa, Europe, Latin America and Asia to seek support. Banga’s visit to India was scheduled yesterday and today.

Banga, who is of Indian-American descent, is currently a vice chairman at private equity firm General Atlantic. Usually the president of the World Bank is an American and the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is from a European country.
