Leaving a mark by winning the 2013 and 2017 World Championships
Ryu Han-su, who represented Korean wrestling in the past, announced his retirement.
An official from the Korea Wrestling Association announced on the 27th that Ryu Han-soo will finish his career as a player and pursue a career as a coach.
Ryu Han-soo recently decided to retire due to a severe neck injury, and begins his second life as a coach at Jeonju University.
Ryu Han-soo, who was the star of Korean wrestling in the 2010s, made a name for himself by winning the gold medal in the men’s Greco-Roman 66kg event at the 2013 World Wrestling Championships.
He then led the golden age of Korean wrestling with Kim Hyun-woo by winning the 2014 Incheon Asian Games Wage Medal, the 2015 World Championships silver medal, the 2015 Asian Wrestling Championships gold medal, the 2017 World Championships gold medal, and the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games gold medal.
He set his sights on winning the Olympics, but he only made it to the quarterfinals at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and the round of 16 at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Although Ryu Han-soo did not win an Olympic medal, he left a mark at the Asian and World Championships.
Born in 1988, he retired from active duty at the age of 36 and began his career as a leader.
