Where does Children’s Day actually come from?

As a result of the Geneva World Conference in 1925, many governments established a Children’s Day for the welfare of children.

International Children’s Day was introduced in 1950 and celebrated intensively ever since in the GDR. June 1st was associated with gifts and events for the children. Parents gave their children attention, sweets and toys. Celebrations were celebrated in schools and daycare centers.

In other countries such as China or the USA, June 1st is also considered Children’s Day.
