Doha – Argentina were crowned world champions after beating France on penalties 4-2 (3-3 after extra time) on Sunday in Doha in the final of the World Cup (Qatar-2022).

The two teams were unable to separate at the end of regulation time (2-2).

Lionel Messi opened the scoring from a penalty (23rd minute), while Angel Di Maria doubled the lead in the 36th minute. Kylian Mbappé reduced the gap for the Blues (80th minute, sp), then equalized in the 81st minute.

During extra time, Messi gave the Albiceleste the lead again (109th minute), but Mbappé put the record straight in the 118th minute.
