Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya said:

Glad our Gujarat team won the trophy in the inaugural first series. The next generation will speak of this immense success. Winning the cup in the IPL, the series is great. Prior to this, I was on the team that won the championship four times. This win is more special than that. Because, for the first time as captain I kissed the trophy. Luckily in all 5 finals I participated in, my team won the trophy which was unique.

Playing for India is like a dream come true. It does not matter how many matches we have played. I get love and support when I play for the nation. The goal is for India to win the World Cup.

They say the ‘T-20’ competition is a competition for batters. But so is competition for bowlers. Shami (20 wickets), Rashid Khan (19), Ferguson (12) and Yash Dayal (11) were the other wicket-takers in our Gujarat squad this time.

My family members have been a strong support to me during my worst days in the cricket arena. Encouraged by wife Natasha and brother Kurnal Pandya. Thus being able to recover strongly.

Thus said Hardik Pandya.

‘No’ to Rohit, Kohli

Former India opener Wasim Jaffer has been named in the ‘Eleven’ squad for the 15th season of the T20 Cricket League. Rajasthan’s Butler (863) and Lucknow captain Lokesh Rahul (616) were the top scorers in the list. The next two places have been given to Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson and Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya. In the ‘middle-order’ Livingston (Punjab), David Miller (Gujarat) got the chance. Dinesh Karthik of Bangalore replaced the wicket-keeper. Mohammad Shami, Herschelle Patel, Yuvendra Sakal (27) and Hasaranga (26) were the top two bowlers in the ‘spin’ with the highest number of wickets. Hardik Pandya has been appointed as the captain of the team. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Dhoni and Rishabh Punt are not available.

On the way to Dhoni …

Indian cricket legend Gavaskar says, “Hardik Pandya’s captaincy is like that of Dhoni. I think he has learned a lot from him. Pandya sees Dhoni as a brother and a hero. His fielding and ‘bowling’ strategy, which is found quietly on the pitch, is excellent. The way he leads his teammates is commendable, ”he said.

Indian captain opportunity

Former England captain Michael Vaughan said, “Hardik Pandya, who led Gujarat to the trophy and won the trophy, could be appointed captain of the Indian team for the next two years. He deserves it, ” he said.
