Qatar, the host country, is in the midst of all preparations for the first football world cup. The opening ceremonies of the World Cup will begin at 7.30 pm Indian time at the Al Bait Stadium in Al Khor, about 60 km from the heartland of Doha. The opening match is between Qatar and Ecuador in Group A at 9.30 pm. An amazing visual feast is prepared at the opening ceremony. The 60,000-seat stadium is ready to receive fans.

Fans arriving by Doha Metro, bus and car will be welcomed to the stadium with the performances of artists from different countries. The spacious park around the stadium also has facilities for fans to relax and enjoy. Food and beverage stalls are also ready.

The tournament, which will be held from tomorrow to December 18, is expected to attract more than 12 lakh fans. Fan zones will provide an unforgettable experience to the spectators. Musical programs, cultural shows, street performances etc. are part of the spectacle. The opening ceremony is full of Arab traditions and art forms and is suspenseful. Singer Jung Koong of the Korean band BTS will perform the song ‘Dreamers’. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar will be present at the inauguration as the representative of India.

There will be entertainment in various parts of Qatar and around the 8 venues. Apart from the fan zones, cultural events will be held in 21 regions across the country. Celebrations have also started in Katara, Souq Waqif and Mishreeb Downtown Doha.
