World Cup: Morocco’s joint bid with Spain and Portugal is the strongest possible at all levels (Portuguese Football Federation)
Lisbon – Morocco’s joint bid, with Spain and Portugal, to host the 2030 World Cup is the “strongest possible bid in social, sporting, cultural and infrastructural terms”, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) said on Wednesday.
This candidacy was received “very positively” by the representatives of the European associations during the UEFA meeting, organized on the sidelines of the FIFA Congress, scheduled for Thursday in Kigali, the FPF stressed in a press release, noting that this historic candidacy will strengthen the links between Europe and Africa.
The union of the three neighbouring countries will contribute to strengthening the links between Europe and Africa, as well as the entire Mediterranean, and will inspire thousands of young people from both continents in a common project, which has as its fundamental axis the impact that football can have on the development of sport and society in the region, continues the Portuguese federation.
HM King Mohammed VI announced, on Tuesday, Morocco’s joint candidacy, with Spain and Portugal, to host the 2030 World Cup, in a message on the occasion of the presentation of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Excellence Award for the year 2022 (CAF President’s Outstanding Achievement Award-2022).
This joint candidacy, unprecedented in the history of football, will be that of the junction between Africa and Europe, between the north and the south of the Mediterranean, and between the African, Arab and Euro-Mediterranean worlds, noted the Sovereign.
