Doha: Qatar’s security forces are ready for the FIFA World Cup. The 5-day Vathan exercise was successfully concluded.

The Vathan security exercise which started on 23rd of this month with the participation of 13 brotherly and friendly countries to ensure the final security readiness for the World Cup has concluded. In addition to 11 ministries of Qatar, the military, police and security forces of 13 countries participated in the exercise.

The Vathan exercise was conducted in all major locations such as stadiums, airports, metro-bus stations, major public spaces, ports, etc., with the participation of all the departments involved in providing security related to the World Cup, including the public security department, tournament security, civil authorities, operational departments and more.

The exercise was aimed at testing the capabilities of the forces, measuring the speed of response in emergency cases, activating the command and control mechanism, strengthening joint cooperation with military and civil authorities to ensure integrity of duties and proper execution of tasks, and strengthening cooperation with fraternal and friendly forces participating in the World Cup. Vathan conducted the drill to ensure security just days before the World Cup. The World Cup runs from November 20 to December 23.
