The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khaled Ait Taleb, received today, Friday in Rabat, a commemorative shield from the World Health Organization, on the occasion of the seventy-fifth anniversary of its founding, in recognition of the exemplary cooperation between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the World Health Organization, as well as the tireless efforts made by the Kingdom of Morocco in Facing the COVID-19 crisis and improving the health of the population.
Khaled Ait Taleb, accompanied by the representative of the World Health Organization office in Morocco, Maryam Beekdli, presided over the ceremony for presenting and signing the cooperation strategy between the World Health Organization and the Kingdom of Morocco for the period between 2023-2027, on the occasion of the celebration of World Health Day, which falls on the seventh of April of each year. It is commemorated this year under the slogan: “Health for All”, in line with the World Health Organization’s call to promote health, maintain global security and serve people in vulnerable situations.
The cooperation strategy between Morocco and the World Health Organization is based on four axes and priorities for action; Supporting the strengthening of the national health system in working to generalize comprehensive health coverage, as well as strengthening the resilience of the health sector, especially with regard to preparing for and responding to health emergencies and facing emerging challenges, in addition to keeping pace with strengthening the governance of reforming the national health system, as well as promoting the health and well-being of the population and parity. Gender in health by working on social and environmental determinants and promoting a multisectoral approach.
The Ministry of Health says that this strategy takes into account the progress made with regard to the reform path of the health system in Morocco, especially the new directions for reforming the health sector, as well as the global program of the World Health Organization, especially the international efforts to achieve the goals of sustainable development, as it is in line with the framework plan of the United Nations. for development for the period 2023-2027.
