On October 10, World Mental Health Day is celebrated. This year’s motto, Mental Health is a Universal Human Right, seeks to improve knowledge, raise awareness and promote measures that promote and protect the mental health of all as a universal human right.

According to WHO data, one in eight people in the world suffers from a mental health problem. Mental disorders affect one in seven adolescents worldwide, and depression is emerging as the leading cause of illness and disability among adolescents. Suicide is the second cause of death among people between 15 and 29 years of age. People with serious mental health disorders die prematurely from preventable physical illnesses.

Good mental health allows us to face challenges, relate to others and enjoy our lives. Mental health is vital and deserves to be recognized and respected.

On the occasion of this day, the Aragon Mental Health Federation and the Aragonese Association for Mental Health (ASAPME) organized an awareness day in the Crown Room of the Pignatelli Building, where a manifesto defending the right to well-being was read. and to participation in a society that respects mental health, that offers trust instead of discrimination and understanding instead of exclusion. The ASAPME Aragón 2023 awards were also presented to the Sesé Foundation and the journalist Ana Esteban.
