Established on October 10, 1992 by the World Health Organization (WHO), this day seeks to highlight the relevance of mental health in the general well-being of people.
In a context where understanding and support for mental health problems were limited, the need to reduce the stigma associated with these disorders and encourage open dialogue in society was established.

Since its creation, the World Mental Health Day addressed a variety of relevant topics, including in 2020 it focused on “Mental health in an unequal world”highlighting inequalities in access to mental health services, especially in vulnerable communities.
In 2021, the theme was “Mental health in a changing world”which reflected the challenges brought by the pandemic COVID-19 and the importance of taking care of emotional well-being in times of crisis.
Every year, various organizations, governments and community groups carry out activities such as talks, workshops and awareness campaigns, inviting society to reflect on the challenges faced by millions of people with mental disorders.

This joint effort not only seeks to raise awareness, but also encourages institutions to improve access to mental health services, guaranteeing the well-being of all.
World Mental Health Day, therefore, is not only a date of commemoration, but a call to action to create an environment where emotional health is prioritized and support is provided to those who need it.
