On the occasion of World Patient Safety Day, which will be held on September 17, the Romagna Local Health Authority, in collaboration with citizen representatives and local administrations, will promote a series of initiatives to raise awareness among citizens of their role in the safety of the care process. On Tuesday, in the atrium of the Morgagni Pavilion of the “Morgagni – Pierantoni” hospital in Forlì, there will be an information point open from 9 am to 12:30 pm: here there will be care safety representatives, citizen representatives, infectious risk representatives, the public relations office, pharmacists, public health representatives and nursing degree students. It will be an opportunity to meet and discuss with citizens, and offer them advice and information brochures on correct lifestyles and ways to prevent domestic accidents, prevent falls, prevent identification errors, manage drug therapy, but also demonstrations on correct hand hygiene and respiratory tract protection.

Family nurses or home care will also be present, with blood pressure and vital signs measurement activities. In addition to the distribution of various information brochures, citizens will be presented with the therapy card, highlighting the importance of keeping it updated with respect to the drugs taken by the person being assisted. They will also be able to participate in a short questionnaire regarding drug therapy and use of antibiotics. The fountain in Piazza Ordelaffi will light up to draw citizens’ attention to the importance of safe care.

On the website of Ausl Romagna (at the address) the campaign for the safety of care will be promoted and good practices will be disseminated to prevent risks for citizens. In particular this year, taking into account the message of the WHO, a poster on the correct use of antibiotics has been prepared and will be distributed to all pharmacies, general practitioners’ surgeries, community homes and promoted on the company website, which strongly recalls the role of each citizen in the correct use of the same.
