World Poetry Day, celebrated annually on March 21, will host an online festival on Poesia 21, which will bring together 368 poets from 95 countries.

The festival includes eight simultaneous online broadcasts from various regions, including Eurasia, America, North and Central Europe, Southeast Asia, and others. The readings will be attended by 368 poets from 95 countries, speaking 70 languages. The festival will last 20 hours, during which viewers will be able to get acquainted with the best poets of our time, hearing also translations of their works into different languages, including Russian.

The organizers of the Eurasian hub were the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Balmont Foundation, the Biennale of Poets in Moscow, etc. The main curators were the poet and philologist Natalia Azarova, as well as the poet and literary critic Dmitry Bak. World Poetry Day was proclaimed by UNESCO in 1999. As noted on the UN website, its goal is to promote linguistic diversity through poetic expression, as well as to enable endangered languages ​​to “be heard”.
