These two won a lot but could not do everything at the Worlds in Fukuoka (Japan). After three individual gold medals for the impressive Léon Marchand, and two bronze and one gold for Maxime Grousset, crowned this Saturday in the 100m butterfly, they dreamed of a medal with the 4x100m medley. They didn’t go far. Associated with Yohan Ndoye and Hadrien Salvan, they finished 4th in the 4x100m medley relay.

Long live the Games for the Blues!

It was Mewen Tomac who started the event in the backstroke, followed by Léon Marchand in the breaststroke, with a big butterfly from Maxime Grousset which allowed France to move into 2nd place before the last 100m. Alas, Hadrien Salvan broke down a bit in freestyle. The Blues (3′29′’88) could not resist the return of Australia (3rd in 3′29′’62) and China (2nd in 3′29′’00), while the Americans ‘ve ever shaken, 3′27′’20.

This 4th place looks like an investment for the future and invites optimism one year from the Paris Games where, driven by Marchand, of course, but also Grouset, the Blues could do wonders. Rest at Les Bleues, very pale in Fukuoka, to catch the wave.
