The Vatican Taekwondo Team of the Vatican Athletes Association became the 211th Official Member of the World Taekwondo Sports Federation on November 23, 2021.

Chungwon Choue, President of the World Taekwondo Games Federation, met with members of the Cultural Council at the Vatican on Thursday, June 2, in support of efforts to promote a meeting culture that helps to eliminate conflicts in various fields, including sports.
Chungwon Choue is reported to have been accompanied by seven athletes from the Vatican Taekwondo team when they met with Pastor Paul Tighe, secretary of the Cultural Mission.

The World Taekwondo Federation, in recent years, has developed close ties with the Vatican Athletes’ Organization and has dedicated itself to promoting peaceful dialogue between different cultures.
It was reported that during the meeting held on Thursday, discussions were held on providing opportunities in sports for the youth and the very weak.
The World Taekwondo Games was first presented at the 2016 World Symposium on Hope and Sports in the Vatican. Later, in 2017, the President of the World Taekwondo Federation and the President of the Italian Sports Federation met with Pope Francis at the Vatican’s St. Peter’s Palace and presented him with the tenth most valuable dan black belt.
