World War II warships seen at low tide on the Danube | World War II Nazi shipwrecks in the Danube River

by time news

Prahovo (Serbia): Rivers are drying up amid severe drought across Europe. More than a dozen German warships wrecked in World War II have been seen as the water level of the Danube, one of Europe’s main rivers, has largely receded.

The ships were spotted in the Serbian river port city of Prahovo. These were part of the ‘Black Sea Fleet’ of Nazi Germany which was withdrawn in 1944 with the Soviet forces retaliating. Even when the water recedes, such ships become a hindrance to travel and cargo. But this is the first time that so many ships are visible at once. Many of these are believed to still contain tons of weapons and explosives.
