World Water Forum in Dakar: Review of cooperation between Morocco and Niger in the field of hydraulics and sanitation

Dakar – The Minister of Equipment and Water, Mr. Nizar Baraka, had, Thursday in Dakar, a meeting with the Nigerien Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation, Mr. Adamou Mahaman, on the occasion of the 9th edition of the World Water Forum held under the theme “Water security for peace and development.”

The meeting between the two parties focused on ways and means of promoting cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Niger in the field of hydraulics and sanitation.

In a statement to the press following this meeting, held at the Morocco Pavilion of the World Forum, Mr. Adamou Mahaman stressed having discussed with the Moroccan minister ways to strengthen cooperation and the sharing of experiences and expertise with Morocco in this area, noting that the two countries “have a long tradition of friendship and cooperation, a friendship that we wanted to reaffirm” within the framework of South-South cooperation.

The Nigerien minister noted that the Kingdom of Morocco “has long experience” in the management of water resources, and in the management of access to water in rural areas and in the field of agriculture, adding that his country wants to strengthen this cooperation and benefit from the experience, expertise and know-how of Moroccan technicians in this field.

Mr. Mahaman, on this occasion, mentioned “the opportunities that Niger can offer” for the benefit of the Moroccan private sector in these areas of hydraulics and sanitation.

As part of his participation in the 9th World Water Forum, Mr. Nizar Baraka, who leads the Moroccan delegation, had bilateral meetings with several of his counterparts and officials of international organizations participating in this major global event.
