World’s Deepest Shipwreck Discovered 22,916 Feet Below The Philippine Sea

A US Navy ship sunk during World War II has been found nearly 7,000 meters (23,000 feet) below sea level in the Philippines.

The vessel was discovered last month at a depth of 6,865 meters (21,521 feet) below the surface of the sea on the island of Samar, the third largest island in the Philippines.

A US Navy ship was damaged during the Battle of Central Samar on October 25, 1944. In this situation, based on the clues about the location of the shipwreck, a team engaged in underwater search in a submarine has found the parts of this sunken ship.

In this case, this accident has broken the Guinness World Record for the deepest shipwreck in the world. This has been announced by the Guinness administration.

According to US Navy records, the shipwrecked during World War II was named ‘John C Butler- USS Samuel B Roberts’.

The world’s deepest shipwreck was previously identified as the USS Johnston, discovered in 2021 at a depth of nearly 6,500 meters.

The ship was also recently found to still have detonated explosives that were carried during World War II.
