New Delhi: One of the most dangerous islands in the world is in India. The condition of this island can be gauged from the fact that even tourists are banned from coming here. This is the most isolated island in the Indian Ocean, named ‘North Sentinel Island’. This island comes in the remote Andaman and Nicobar chain of India. It is considered the most dangerous island not only in India but on earth. People do not go here, so people do not know much about North Sentinel Island. Coming within three miles of Sentinel Island is also considered illegal.
This ‘untouched’ island on earth has a dark past. Tourists visiting this island often face a shower of arrows from the Sentinelese people and are killed. Anthropologists estimate that between 50 and 100 people may live on the island. The people of this island are known for violence and reluctance to meet outsiders. Whenever outsiders visited here, they faced difficulties due to attacks by these people. In such a situation, due to the danger, people do not go here and not much is known about the people living on this island.
Very few people returned safely from this island
Only a small group of people who have visited this island have returned alive. This group has lived to tell its tale. In 1981, a boat Primose got stranded on this island while carrying chicken feed from Bangladesh to Australia. The people on the boat saw about 50 people with wooden weapons on the island and told their story. Luckily they were not killed and the crew on Primose was evacuated with the help of a helicopter after several attempts.
Anyone who tries to enter this island against the wishes of the local people has to face strong opposition. These people first sit on their backs and signal the unwanted guests to go back and if anyone still does not return, they shoot arrows at them. Actually, the Sentinelese living here are a community of hunters who live isolated from the outside world. They live in huts and carry bows, arrows and spears with them all the time.
