Pizza baker Rodan Hamo from Borås, Sweden, has taken on the challenge of creating the world’s strongest pizza sauce using ground, chopped, and pressed oil from the world’s strongest chili fruit. Hamo’s goal with this fiery creation is to enter the prestigious Guinness Book of Records.

At his pizzeria in Borås, Hamo is determined to bring a world record to his city. He claims, “Here in Borås, we have no world records, but I will make the world’s strongest pizza sauce.”

For those brave enough to try, the experience of eating a slice of pizza topped with this “world’s strongest pizza sauce” is not for the faint-hearted. Aftonbladet’s reporter described the initial taste as a regular pizza with a strong sauce. However, as the heat kicks in, the hands begin to feel unsteady, sweat starts to trickle, and the mouth and throat are overwhelmed by the intensity of the sauce. Even the reporter had to surrender after just two bites.

Hamo emphasizes the importance of caution when consuming his creation, warning that individuals with heart disease or other health concerns should avoid it. He even recounts an incident where a person accidentally wiped their eye with a glove that had touched the sauce and had to be taken to the hospital.

Despite the challenges, around 500 people have visited the pizzeria to try the “Spicy pizza.” Successful challengers are promised honor, fame, and a discounted pizza purchase for a year. However, only 25 out of the 500 visitors have managed to conquer the intense heat of the pizza sauce.

The pizza sauce gets its strength from the use of Trinidad scorpion and Carolina reaper chili fruits, which measure 1.2 and 1.6 million respectively on the Scoville scale, a tool used to measure the heat of chili peppers. Hamo is confident that his sauce, created from these throat-searing pepper fruits, will secure him a place in the Guinness Book of Records.

The claim is yet to be verified by the reputable record book, requiring further testing by more visitors. Nevertheless, the strength of the sauce is undeniable. Tasting a Carolina reaper chili has been likened to “eating molten lava” by its own grower. Hamo estimates that 85% of visitors struggle to finish more than one slice of the pizza.

Notably, the successful challengers have typically been chili experts and spice enthusiasts. Hamo advises those attempting the challenge to eat the pizza as quickly as possible, especially if they are not chili lovers.

Aram Hamo, Rodan’s father, who assists with pizza preparation, admits that he tastes the sauce daily but cannot consume an entire pizza himself due to its intense heat.

As the journey to claim the Guinness World Record continues, Rodan Hamo and his team are determined to heat up Borås’ culinary reputation and create a pizza sauce that stands out as a fiery sensation.
