Muscat: The world’s youngest pilot will visit Oman. Macrutherford, 16, arrives in the Sultanate as part of a journey to break the record for the youngest pilot to travel the world alone. His visit was cleared by the Civil Aviation Authority yesterday. He will arrive at Muscat International Airport on May 31 on a specially prepared flight. Mac Rutherford, a British and Belgian citizen, began his journey from the Bulgarian capital, Sofia. He is trying to break the Guinness World Record for 18 – year – old Travis Ludlow. He said the journey aims to inspire young people to make their dreams come true. Destinations include African countries, the Middle East, Asia, North America, and Europe. Born into a family of pilots, Rutherford began flying with his father at the age of seven. At the age of 15 he became the youngest pilot in the world. Rutherford follows in the footsteps of 19-year-old Sarah, the youngest sister in the world.
