The 105th congress of the Association of Mayors of France (AMF) brings together elected officials from 35,000 municipalities and intermunicipalities, from November 21 to 23 in Paris, on the theme “Communities attacked, Republic threatened”.
According to a Cevipof investigation (Sciences Po) for the AMF published on Sunday, 69% of elected officials say they have already been victims of incivility.
The investigation also reveals resentment over the conditions under which their mission is carried out. 48% consider the compensation amounts insufficient.
The AMF pleads for an improvement in the status of elected officials, which would notably involve better coordination between professional activity and mandate, a situation which concerns 20,000 mayors.
