Born in Rokiškis

True, he did not plan in advance what and how he would grow on those three hectares of land near the homestead. They say that everything unfolded as if by itself. Traditionally, potatoes, strawberries, later watermelons, melons, which require less maintenance, were planted. Last year, Eglė thought that she wanted a field of sunflowers. Since the land right next to the gravel road did not come up with anything special, Mantas encouraged to sow more of those sunflowers.

When the sunflowers started to shoot up at the beginning of summer, I started thinking about what can be done with all this beauty. This is how the idea of ”Sunflower Park” was born. Eglė says she saw something similar on the Internet, but there was nothing like that around Rokiškis. The installation of the park did not take long – it was only necessary to make tracks and decorations, which were forged and painted white by the mantis Mantas. After the announcement of the park’s opening, there was immediate interest. Who wouldn’t want to wander among the gorgeous looking tall yellow flowers for a bright summer photo shoot? And you can also take home those expressive rings for nothing – young people do not seek to earn money from this attraction, it is more important for them to share the beauty they have. Of course, “Sunflower Park” and advertising for the farm and the hard-working family, but that’s another matter.

After the first few days of interest, the hosts were forced to stop visiting the park for a short time, as the strong winds and rains over the weekend and Monday washed away the sunflowers and blocked the paths, especially at the entrance/exit. But Eglė and Mantas did not give up, and after announcing in the morning that visiting the park was suspended, in the evening they invited to visit it again on social networks.

Another will say that sunflower fields abroad are much bigger and more impressive, sometimes even labyrinths are installed in them, but all this is far away, and this “Sunflower Park” is right here in the neighborhood. When asked if he will do something similar next year, Eglė said that he will definitely come up with something. It is possible that next year there will be a field of sunflowers and even more attractions in it – the young family of Eglė and Mantos is definitely not in the mood to be lazy.
