Former Labor Party Chairman Sheli Yachimovich hopes that Aryeh Deri will be the one to replace Avigdor Lieberman in the Ministry of Finance.

“Aman Sharia Deri will be the Minister of Finance,” Yachimovich wrote on her Twitter account.

She explained that Deri “is so much more suitable than his outdated and destructive libertarian predecessor Avigdor Lieberman and the optional economic alternative identical to Lieberman, Bezalel Smotrich.”

Later she added and wrote: “Since I no longer live on Twitter, I will answer in advance, that the history of the three personalities mentioned is well known to me, and with all this assemblage, I am sure that Deri is many times better than them.”

According to a report on Channel 7, the chairman of the religious Zionist party, MK Bezalel Smotrich, arrived this evening (Sunday) at the home of Rabbi Haim Druckman, where other senior rabbis from religious Zionism will arrive.

The goal: to get their support to demand the portfolios of security, education and religions, in preparation for the pressures that Netanyahu may exert on him, with the aim of ‘folding’ him from his demands.

Netanyahu currently refuses to give Smotrich the Ministry of Defense. At the same time, the Shas are not ready for religious Zionism to control the Ministry of Religious Services.

According to a report in ‘Khan Haudas’, in the last few days Smotrich met with six generals in response to the possibility that he would be appointed the next Minister of Defense, and he listened to their advice.

Among the champions: Dan Harel and Petah Ron-Tal. With some of them, the chairman of ‘Religious Zionism’ checked the possibility of them taking the position of Director General of the Ministry of Defense.

Earlier today Smotrich met with Aryeh Deri and the two discussed their differences in the coalition negotiations.

On leaving Deri’s house, Smotrich said: “It was an excellent meeting. Not the first and not the last.”
