New Delhi: The 12th match of the Women’s Premier League was played today i.e. on 5 March between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Delhi completely dominated this match. Not only this, DC also took revenge for last year’s final defeat and this year’s opening match defeat. They defeated Mumbai Indians by 29 runs.

Delhi Capitals, batting first after losing the toss, put 192 runs for 4 wickets on the board. In response, Mumbai Indians could only score 163 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs and lost the match by 29 runs.

Mumbai Indians’ batting was a flop

The start of Mumbai Indians’ innings, which was set to chase the target of 193 runs, was quite disappointing. MI lost its 3 wickets within 30 runs. Mumbai Indians’ top order and middle order also flopped. Amanjot Kaur scored the maximum 42 runs for the team. Apart from this, Sajana also played a good inning of 24 runs unbeaten. But due to not getting a good start from the top, MI lost this match.

Jess Johnson took maximum 3 wickets for Delhi Capitals. Marijan Cap also got 2 successes. Apart from this, Shikha Pandey, Titas Sadhu and Radha Yadav took 1 wicket each.

Meg Lanning and Jemima took Mumbai class

With the help of stormy half-centuries from captain Meg Lanning and Jemimah Rodrigues, Delhi Capitals scored 192 runs for four wickets against Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) match on Tuesday. Lanning played an inning of 53 runs in 38 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes. With his third half-century in the current season, he made three useful partnerships.

After this, Jemima scored unbeaten 69 runs in 33 balls with eight fours and three sixes and took the team close to 200 runs. Shefali Verma (28) and Alice Capsey (19) also played aggressive innings. Pooja Vastrakar was the best bowler for Mumbai Indians. He took one wicket for 20 runs in four overs. Saika Ishaq (1 for 29), Shabnim Ismail (1 for 46) and Hayley Mathews (1 for 23) were the other bowlers to take wickets.

After the resounding success of the Bengaluru leg, the WPL caravan reached Delhi but most of the ground remained empty of spectators. Despite the indifference of the spectators at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the morale of Delhi’s batsmen did not diminish. Lanning and Shefali gave a flying start to the team.
