In the Salem Periyar University question paper on which is the lowest caste, another controversial question has been asked. The question paper has been published with an error in the name of late Chief Minister Annadurai as Annadulai.
Semester exams are going on in Salem Periyar University. In this, a question was asked which is the lowest caste in Tamil Nadu in the examination for Masters in History. The question sparked great controversy and was condemned by various parties. Following this, Periyar University expressed regret.
The controversy surrounding the question of caste in the university has now sparked another controversy. Currently, the examination for BA Political Economy is going on. In this, the question paper has been released with the error of discussing the achievements of the Annadulai regime in Tamil Nadu. The question paper has been given to the students by wrongly printing the name of late former Chief Minister “Annadhurai” as “Annathulai”.
Also, a question has been asked to define the origin, history and development of AIADMK in Tamil Nadu. In B.A. History subject, question marks and answers for the year of foundation of Brahmo Samaj contain wrong answers as 1822, 1824, 1823, 1825. The correct answer is 20 August 1828. The quality of the question paper examination committee is questionable as wrong answers and errors are published in the question papers of Periyar University’s undergraduate courses.
Also, in the BA history course, freedom fighter and Gandhi’s political guru Gopala Krishna Gokhale was given the answers to the question of which leader was extremists, moderates, terrorists and revolutionaries. Social activists feel that the policy-type answers given to such a question have degraded the leader of the freedom struggle.
In this regard, the university side says, “The curriculum experts of the university, the teachers who are working in the affiliated colleges of other universities in the list will prepare three types of question papers based on experience.”
Before sending the question paper to the printer, the question paper will be checked for extra-curricular questions, mistakes and typos by the examination board itself. Then, out of three types of question paper, one question paper will be sent to the printer and it will be printed.
They said that while the examination is going to be held after two years, the existence of many errors and mistakes and controversial questions in the answer sheets has questioned the quality of education of Periyar University.
According to the university professors, Tamil Nadu Civil Servant Exam Question Paper preparation is done directly by departmental professors and experts. Similarly, the professors should give up the preparation of question paper of Periyar University by keeping the research students. Also, the professors preparing the question paper should be invited directly to the University Examination Board office to prepare the question paper. Then there will be no chance of mistakes and errors.”
