Wrong-Way Crash on I-75 Hospitalizes Two Drivers

DETROIT – A wrong-way crash on I-75 hospitalized two drivers on Sunday, Sept. 3. The incident occurred on southbound I-75, near Caniff Street, according to authorities.

The police received numerous calls reporting a wrong-way driver who had struck multiple vehicles on I-375 before proceeding northbound in the southbound lanes of I-75. The reckless driver, whose actions resulted in a head-on collision with a Ford, caused damage to several other vehicles along the way.

While most injuries sustained in the multiple crashes were minor, both the Ford driver and the at-fault driver were seriously injured and had to be hospitalized. The at-fault driver’s condition is currently listed as critical.

As a result of the crash, southbound I-75 had to be closed for approximately five hours to facilitate rescue operations, investigate the scene, and clear debris. The closure caused significant traffic congestion and inconvenience for motorists in the area.

Police revealed that the at-fault driver, a 43-year-old woman, was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. It remains uncertain whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, as authorities work to gather further information to determine the exact cause and sequence of events leading up to the wrong-way collision.
