Beijing: The Wuhan Institute of Virology is just a few miles from the Hwanan Sea Food Market in Hubei Province, where the Kovid is said to have spread to humans. This is where the Wuhan National Biosafety Lab comes in. It is the only lab in China that stores deadly viruses, and one of the few labs in the world. The lab, which opened in 2017, conducted studies on the world’s most dangerous pathogens and vaccines.
It is the first lab in China to be able to handle viruses and bacteria in the Biosafety Level-4 category (BSL-4 is the highest bioavailable risk factor). The researchers wore airtight hatsuit suits and high-grade gloves. The corona virus that caused the SARS outbreak in China and Hong Kong in 2002 was studied here.
