Ric Flair, perhaps the greatest wrestler of all time, actually got back in the ring last night.
With 72 years!
In the Mexican version of WrestleMania – “Triplemanía” – he accompanied his “son-in-law” Andrade (he is with Flair’s daughter Charlotte) to the ring in Mexico City … for his fight against AEW champion Kenny Omega.
And no – Flair didn’t stop at just watching.
At the end of the match he got into the ring, gave Omega a few cracking chops (blows to the chest with the flat of his hand) and even used his patented “Figure 4 Leglock” task on cult wrestler Konan.
It was of no use to his son-in-law. A few moments after Flair’s intervention, Andrade lost to Omega.
He wants one last match!
Ric Flair left the WWE two weeks ago – voluntarily. On Twitter, he announced that he and WWE have different views about his future.
Wrestling legend Booker T speculated a little later that he assumed that Flair would actually want to play another match. This could not take place in the WWE, because the league does not want to take the risk.
Five days ago Flair wrote on Instagram:
“Damn right! Do you think a plane crash, a lightning strike and almost death four years ago could stop the Nature Boy? Under no circumstance! WOOOOO! “
The performance last night in Mexico supports the thesis that the “Nature Boy” actually wants to play one last match.
