This was until recently the main selling point of the subscription. Subscribers to Blue (Twitter Blue, before the social network was renamed X) can now remove the little blue checkmark next to their name… It’s now possible. “As a subscriber, you can choose to hide your checkmark on your account,” says social network help center.

In order to hide its tick, simply consult the account settings, then “profile personalization”. It then remains to “Hide your blue tick”. “The tick will be hidden on your profile and posts,” the Help Center continues.

However, “the check mark may still appear in some places and some features may still reveal that you have an active subscription. Some features may not be available when your tick is hidden. “And Twitter to clarify:” We will continue to evolve this feature to make it better for you. »

The blue tick originally allowed to authenticate important public figures, to bring them credibility and therefore prevent the spread of false accounts, before Twitter only conferred it on those paying a subscription, under the impulse of Elon Musk.

The presence of the blue tick means that the user of the account pays 11 euros per month if he uses a smartphone (9 euros 60 for the web version) according to the French price list. The possibility of hiding the blue tick could encourage some to pay who would like to hide their subscriber status but benefit from the functionalities permitted by this same status.

Since the takeover of Twitter by Elon Musk last year, the social network has been in the midst of a metamorphosis, including changing its name and setting up a subscription.
