While the Les Républicains (LR) party is looking for a president, Xavier Bertrand intends to create a new party associated with the right-wing formation. The creation of this new movement, called Nous France, must be formalized during meetings organized on 1is October 2022 in Saint-Quentin (Aisne), stronghold of Nicolas Sarkozy’s former minister.
The future party claims its attachment to the“French identity”, “authority” et “the value of effort and work”. In addition to Xavier Bertrand, who will assume the presidency of the movement, the latter will have as secretary general Bernard Deflesselles, former LR deputy for Bouches-du-Rhône.
The launch of this new movement shows, in any case, that Xavier Bertrand has not abandoned all national ambitions. During the 2021 right-wing primary, however, the president of the Hauts-de-France region said that in the event of defeat, he would leave the national political scene. “From now on, this is my region, in which I live, I live”he also said after his failure.
