Measuring more than five feet from snout to tail, a fully functional Xbox Series X sits inside the belly of a meticulously crafted alligator.
Microsoft has unveiled its most unusual hardware design to date: a five-foot animatronic alligator housing a working Xbox Series X. Dubbed the Xbox Series X-Bite, the console features an illuminated Xbox Nexus logo on the creature’s body, revealing the hardware inside. A custom wireless controller bearing tooth marks rests between its open jaws, complete with green irises and logo-inspired pupils.
John Nolan Studio Builds Five-Foot Reptile
The life-sized reptile was brought to life by John Nolan Studio, an animatronics shop known for building creatures for Netflix’s The Witcher series, Jurassic World Dominion, and HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter show. Using 3D modeling, sculpting, and fiberglass fabrication, the studio constructed the display piece to resemble genuine taxidermy.
The team utilized clay moulding, fiberglass sculpting, and hand-crafted finishings to capture every detail of the alligator’s skin texture and finish.

Xbox stated in its official announcement that the project was inspired by a trip to Florida, noting the state’s wildlife and unbelievable stories. Observers have noted the timing aligns closely with the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6, which is set in a fictionalized version of Miami and features local wildlife, alongside an exclusive marketing arrangement between Sony and Rockstar Games. Giant Bomb cofounder Jeff Gerstmann commented on Bluesky that the promotional stunt reminded him of companies that want to advertise around the Super Bowl without paying the required fees, forcing them to refer to it as “The Big Game.” Meanwhile, separate surveys from Unwind Media highlighted how desperate some players are to experience upcoming releases early, sharing statistics that a baffling number of respondents would give up their pets just to play a week before launch.

Fans Enter Sweepstakes to Win Custom Gator
Because the X-Bite is a one-of-a-kind fabrication, it is not available for retail purchase. Instead, fans can enter a sweepstakes running from November 3, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. PT until 11:59 p.m. PT on November 10, 2026. While Microsoft pegs the approximate retail value of a standard Series X at $800, collectors estimate that a unique piece of hardware housing a Hollywood creature build could command significantly more on the resale market, though unusual prizes may carry tax obligations at their stated value.
The entry steps require maintaining a public profile across X, Instagram, or TikTok, following the official Xbox account, reposting the designated sweepstakes post, and manually including the hashtag #XbiteSweepstakes.
The winner will be notified via direct message on November 11 and must respond within 48 hours to claim the prize, or the gator will make a clean getaway.
