The annual mobile exhibition in Barcelona served this week as an opportunity for the leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi, to present its next project to promote its smartphone sales. At the exhibition, the company demonstrated a demonstration of the new charging technology for devices, during which its device with an empty 4,100mAh battery was charged to 20% in a little more than a minute, 50% in a little more than two minutes and 100% in 4:54 minutes.

According to the company, the fast charging is possible due to a new and extremely efficient charger, which is able to reach a power of about 300 watts (in the experiment it reached 290) thanks to a new structure and cooling mechanism. In doing so, it bypasses two other demonstrations that have been performed recently – one that it performed itself last October when it charged a device from its discounted Redmi brand with a power of 210 watts, and the other by Realme from Oppo, which presented charging at a rate of 240 watts at the beginning of the month.

At the moment, however, this demo is just a proof of capabilities, and it looks like it will be at least a year or two before we see devices with such a charging rate (in the past it sometimes took as long as 3 years for a newly introduced charging rate to reach store-bought devices). The ready-made devices presented by the company at the exhibition are its Series 13, which was launched in China in December. They come with a camera with a Leica lens and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.

The “regular” device in the series (that is, the one that is not “Plus” and not “Lite”) will cost 1,000 euros in Europe, which is about NIS 3,900, and offers a 6.36-inch AMOLED screen, a 50-megapixel main camera, a wide-angle camera with a 12-megapixel sensor A megapixel and telephoto camera with a 10 megapixel sensor, a selfie camera with a 32 megapixel camera, 8 or 12 gigabytes of memory, 128 or 256 gigabytes of storage and a 4,500mAh battery.

The Pro model offers a full charge of the 4,820mAh battery in 19 minutes – which is not 5 minutes, but still quite an impressive speed – along with a full-inch main sensor (albeit with the same 50 megapixel resolution), a wide sensor With a 50 megapixel sensor equivalent to the standard sensor in the cheaper model and a selfie camera with a 32 megapixel sensor. Its memory capacity is 12 gigabytes, and the storage capacity is 256 or 512 gigabytes. Its price – hold tight – is 1,300 euros, which is about NIS 5,070, more expensive than most iPhone models.
