According to sources, the company intends to reduce dependence on foreign manufacturers. Xiaomi currently purchases processors from Qualcomm and MediaTek corporations. The IT giant’s plans coincide with the desire of the Chinese government for local companies to become more independent, primarily from the United States.
The insider called the creation of his processor a “feat.” Mass production of the chip is expected in 2025 – at the same time new smartphones based on it will be released.
The material says that Xiaomi may choose a compromise solution, just like Samsung. The Korean corporation produces one part of smartphones based on a Qualcomm chip, the other based on its own Exynos processor.
At the same time, Xiaomi works closely with the American Qualcomm to create flagship devices. Thus, the new flagship Xiaomi 15, released at the end of October, was one of the first on the market to receive a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.
