The new olive trees were planted two years ago. They are green, a green that stands out from the yellow that surrounds them. A green that represents the hope of the olive growing of Salento which since 2013 has been fighting against Xylella, which in the meantime has moved 150 kilometers north from Gallipoli to Monopoli. The cultivar Fs-17, better known as Favolosa, was found resistant to the plague of olive trees. As demonstrated by the first (modern and mechanized) post-Xylella harvest in the field of the entrepreneur Cosimo Primiceri of Casarano, the first to believe in the Favolosa (followed, in the meantime, by about 20% of the Lecce olive growers). Where there were yellowed olive trees, oil is produced again, Xylella has finally found its resistance.
