Israeli national team swimmer Yaakov Tomarkin qualified tonight (between Wednesday and Thursday) for the semi-finals of the World Championships in Short Pools in Melbourne, Australia.
The Olympic finalist did it in the 100 individual medley, when he rose from tenth place with a fast time of 52.38 seconds, only 21 hundredths off the Israeli record. The semifinal match will be held today at 12:14 Israel time.
More from the Israeli angle tonight – Miron Haruti jumped to a second stroke for him, 50 meter backstroke. He did set a good time of 24.12 seconds, faster than his personal best, but was disqualified due to an underwater dive longer than 15 meters after the jump.
