Member of Knesset Yair Lapid, welcomes the appointment of Major General Eyal Zamir as Director General of the Ministry of Defense, by Defense Minister Yoav Galant.
“Congratulating Major General Eyal Zamir on the occasion of his appointment as Director General of the Ministry of Defense, and congratulating Minister Galant for appointing the right man to the right position,” Lapid wrote on his Twitter account.
Defense Minister Yoav Galant announced earlier this evening that he has decided to appoint Major General Eyal Zamir to the position of Director General of the Ministry of Defense. Zamir will take up his post in the coming weeks at the end of an orderly overlapping procedure with the outgoing general manager (ret.) Amir Eshel and after the completion of the appointment procedure and his approval by the government.
“I congratulate Major General (Ret.) Eyal Zamir, who will soon assume the position of Director General of the Ministry of Defense,” said Gallant. “Zamir is one of the best commanders to emerge in the IDF in the last generation, his track record of service is impressive and he excelled in all his positions.”
“My acquaintance with Eyal goes back many years, I knew an outstanding commander and a high-quality manager – brave, cool-headed, professional and good-natured. I am convinced that his familiarity with the security system at all levels will allow him to quickly integrate into the position. My thanks and appreciation to the outgoing CEO, Alof (Rev. ) Amir Eshel, a highly privileged officer, pilot and commander of the Israel Defense Forces in the past. Amir has many rights in light of his unique and long-standing contribution to the security of the State of Israel. Amir Eshel performed his duties as Director General of the Ministry of Defense with professionalism and dedication and he deserves thanks and deep appreciation for his achievements and his actions to advance the security system On all levels”.
