Salekhard Combine delivered the first batch of fish products – 20 tons of canned food – to Kazakhstan. The enterprise of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug was the first in the region to receive the right to export, the press service of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug told TASS.

After that, the company plans to establish export to three more countries – Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia. Now the parties are negotiating on the issue of supplies.

“The first batch of canned food – more than 62,000 cans with a total weight of about 20 tons – was sent to Kazakhstan, where it was highly appreciated,” the district authorities said.

The volume of export deliveries of deeply processed fish products should be about 240 tons per year.

The plant plans to increase production volumes, so export will not affect the presence of the company’s products on the district’s domestic food market. The Salekhardskiy Kombinat annually processes more than 3,000 tons of fish and produces about 4 million cans of canned food and more than 90 types of various fish products.

Meanwhile, in some Chinese cities bordering Russia, restrictions on food imports were imposed in November due to the outbreak of coronavirus infection. Also in late October, Chinese customs temporarily suspended the import of seafood from two Russian companies after the virus was found in packages of frozen fish.
