Yandex has launched a service that recognizes goods in pictures and allows you to find an item of interest or something similar to it on the Internet, the company’s press service said.
Thus, you can select clothes, interior items, furniture, etc. without writing a query in the search bar. As explained in “Yandex”, the service is able to find a product that occupies both the entire image and part of it. To do this, you need to click the “Products in the picture” button in the Yandex application.
The service works on the basis of computer vision technology, the company explained. Using neural networks trained on many examples, Yandex identifies individual objects in the photo and recognizes what they are. A similar technology was previously used in the “smart camera”.
The head of Yandex.Poisk Maxim Zagrebin said that now users are increasingly choosing products using pictures, because “there are more of them in search than in any marketplace.” So, a request for images allows you to see over 60 billion images, he said.
In April of this year, Yandex launched a “smart camera” in its application, which helps to search and recognize objects, as well as translate texts. The technology can also be used as a scanner – to create a digital copy of a document.
