The county has designated September 14 as County Citizens’ Day and is holding a commemorative ceremony to promote friendship and unity among the county citizens and increase patriotism and contribute to regional development through the “Yangpyeong County Citizens’ Day Ordinance.”

This event was graced by the presence of approximately 400 people, including Yangpyeong County Mayor Jeon Jin-seon, members of the National Assembly, provincial council members, county council members, heads of local organizations and groups, exchange cities, and local residents.

In particular, this year’s 51st Citizens’ Day event announced the start of a new era of attractive Yangpyeong and presented the future direction for the next 50 years of Yangpyeong, thereby becoming a cornerstone for creating a new attractive Yangpyeong together with 129,000 citizens, rather than a simple commemorative ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by key figures, including the deputy governor of Cambodia’s Posat Province, an exchange city, which added to the occasion. In addition, the governor of Gyeonggi Province, the mayor of Seoul, and the heads of Kamiamakusa City, Gangbuk-gu, Yeongdong-gun, and Geochang-gun in Japan sent congratulatory messages, confirming the strong friendship between Yangpyeong-gun and its sister and exchange cities.

The ceremony, which began at 10 a.m., opened with a wonderful pre-performance by the Yangpyeong County United Choir, which will perform at the Dumulmeori Music Festival on the 21st. The winners of the previous year’s Yangpyeong County Citizens’ Award read the Yangpyeong County Citizens’ Charter, encouraging patriotism toward Yangpyeong and pride as citizens.

The Yangpyeong Citizen Award, the highest honor in Yangpyeong-gun, went to Kim Su-han, chairman of the Yangpyeong-gun Association of the Democratic Peace and Unification Advisory Council, and Jang Ho-gyun, former chairman of the Yangpyeong Environmental Agriculture-21 Association. Gyeonggi-do Citizen Award was also given to eight people who contributed to the development of the areas of law and order, rural development, social welfare, local economy, carbon neutrality, culture and arts, sports promotion, and unification and security, honoring the devotion and service spirit of the recipients as hidden protagonists of regional development.

In addition, an honorary citizenship certificate was awarded to Koh Rida, the Governor of Phosat Province, Cambodia, who is actively cooperating in the operation of the foreign seasonal worker system, in recognition of his contribution to the development of the military administration.
