Yannick Zinner won the Omagh tournament tonight (Sunday) after defeating Carlos Alcaraz in three sets, 7:6(5), 1:6, 1:6. As he did on the grass of Wimbledon exactly four weeks ago, the Italian (10th in the world) defeated the Spaniard (5th) – this time on the clay surface in Croatia.
In doing so, Zinner achieved his first title in 2022, the first of his career on clay and the sixth overall, when his balance in the finals of the ATP tour stands at six wins from seven matches – impressive by all accounts. In addition, this is the first time that the Italian beat an opponent ranked in the top 5 in the world, and inflicted on Elcars his first loss of the year in a match in which he led in sets (36 wins before).

Although Zinner recorded only 58% success in the first serves, he saved all nine break opportunities that Alcaras had in the game, while on the other hand he broke the serves of the talented Spaniard five times. The winner tied the historical balance between the two players to 2:2, when until the beginning of this month, Alcaras came out with the upper hand in the two previous meetings.
