Egyptian star Yasser Galal returns to television for the 2027 Ramadan drama season, leading a 15-episode crime thriller titled Al-Qenaa. The production teams up Galal with writer Mohamed El-Soury and director Hisham El-Rashidi, following a consecutive run of short-format Ramadan series.
Production preparations and table reads have brought together confirmed cast members including Basma, Khaled Selim, Mirhan Hussein, Heidy Karam, and Doaa Hokom, alongside young actress Toana El-Gohary and Faten Saeed according to casting announcements.
Basma and Toana El-Gohary Join the Cast
Basma takes on the role of the protagonist’s wife, while Toana El-Gohary portrays the daughter born to Galal and Basma’s characters. The script is structured around a psychological and crime-oriented format where the protagonist — described in early promotional materials as a psychiatrist confronting a series of mysterious and inexplicable occurrences — works through escalating conflicts and the gradual peeling back of hidden truths.
Filming Starts In November 2026
Principal photography gets underway during the second week of November 2026. This schedule follows weeks of table readings and design sessions organized by producer Maha Selim to lock down character arcs before cameras roll.
The project extends Galal’s commitment to compressed, mid-length television formats for the fifth year. That run began with Alaqa Mashroua in 2023, continued through the two-season fantasy epic Joudar in 2024 and 2025, and shifted to social comedy with the 2026 series Everybody Loves Moody
