Methehan is one of the youngest cancer patients in Dortmund and urgently needs a stem cell donor.

The little boy from Dortmund, Metehan, is just one year old and has already received a tragic diagnosis: blood cancer. His parents therefore started an online campaign for their son. His sister might be a possibility.

Because Methehan is dependent on a stem cell donation. Only she could save his life, according to the German Bone Marrow Donor Center (DKMS). In December 2022, the suspicion of leukemia was confirmed – Methehan became physically weaker and weaker. Before that he was a happy child full of energy and laughed a lot, it was said.

Four-year-old sister can donate to Methehan

As a spokeswoman told t-online on the phone, Metehan’s older sister Aysenaz Merve is allowed to donate to him. The four-year-old would be a potential donor. As the family informed DKMS, a doctor had agreed that she could donate.

External donors can register with the DKMS at the age of 17, but can only donate stem cells from the age of 18. It’s different in the family: Potential donors can also be younger.

The online campaign has been running since June and meanwhile many people have been reached, according to the spokeswoman for the DKMS. Metehan’s family wants the call to continue, however, because registration is not sufficient.

Together they want to fight for the life of the one-year-old. Metehan’s mother wants him to be able to play in the playground like other children and enjoy his childhood. “We have to stick together. We are only strong together,” she says.

Anyone between the ages of 17 and 55 can help and support themselves www.dkms.de/metehan register as a donor and have them tested.
