The Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) asset yellow alert by forecast of heavy rains for this Wednesday.

On August 21, through an information sheet, the Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection of Mexico City informed the inhabitants of 11 districts about the activation of the yellow alert, following the heavy rains that are forecast during the afternoon-evening of this day.

In this regard, the capital’s agency detailed at 3:30 p.m. that between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., rainfall of between 15 and 29 millimeters and possible hail are forecast in the following areas:

  • Alvaro Obregon
  • Benito Juarez
  • Coyoacan
  • Cuajimalpa
  • Iztapalapa
  • Magdalena Contreras
  • Miguel Hidalgo
  • High Milpa
  • Tláhuac
  • Tlalpan
  • Xochimilco

The department recommended that residents of the capital carry umbrellas or raincoats and use rainwater to water plants.

Also, remember to sweep drains and keep them free of trash or objects that block them and not pour fats into the drain.

For drivers, he asked them to turn on their flashing lights to be seen, slow down and keep their distance between cars.

He also indicated that before driving, they should clean mirrors, windshields and headlights. Likewise, they should not drive through flooded areas, as they may get stranded, and drive with caution, as they may find remains of trees or objects dragged or knocked down.
